One of this places is “La plaza mayor”, this square was created in 1619 and was inaugurated thanks to Felipe III, the king of Spain in that time. For this reason, there is a statue of Felipe III in this square. One of the best times to visit this place is at Christmas time, since every Christmas there are stores with very nice and original Christmas things to buy.
Other place is “Puerta del Sol”, this is a very nice place, and one thing that is very traditional in Spain, is that it is new year, people usually go to this square and take the 12 grapes of the 12 chimes of December 31st to January 1st.
One of my favourites places to Madrid it’s the park “El Retiro”, it is very nice because it has a lot of nature and many beautiful places. One of my favourite parts of this place is the boats on a lake that you can ride and hang out. In my personal opinion, the best time to go is in April, as it is a month when they put up many book stalls and with their writers, it is wonderful.
This city has very nice museums, like the “Prado” Museum which has very famous works such as “Las Meninas” from Diego Velazquez, or “Saturno devorando a su hijo” from Francisco De Goya. I recommend going to this museum if you like the art.
Also, if you enjoy concerts or basketball games, there is the “WiZink Center”, in Madrid the most famous basketball team it’s “Real Madrid”. This year, famous singers and groups come to this places, for example “Louis Tomlinson”, “Artic Monkeys”, “Maroon 5” or “Tini”. And, if you like the football, in Madrid are the “Santiago Bernabéu” of the team Real Madrid, or “Cívitas Metropolitano” of the team Atlético de Madrid.
Furthermore, of one the most famous streets of this city is “Gran Via”, if you go to Madrid I recommend you to pass by this street.
Finally, in Madrid, one of the things I like the most, is that every Sunday and holiday, you can visit “El Rastro de Madrid”, here you can see many artisan stores, second-hand items and cheaper thing, I really like to go there.
