La Tomatina

 The Tomatina is one of the most famous and funniest parties in Spain. It is located in Valencia more specifically in Buñol and it takes places every year on the last Wednesday of August.

The Tomatina consist of a tomato war between the participants, leaving the streets of the town full of tomato juice. For this party, inexpensive tomatoes are used and they are also grown for this party since they do not have a good taste. On the other hand, the tomatoes are crushed before the party begins to prevent someone from getting hurt. When the party is over, the neighbors usually help clean the streets.

The history of the Tomatina began in 1945 when a group of young people who were at the parties of "giants and big heads" pushed a participant which led all people to start throwing all the vegetables in the square. Years later the story seemed funny to them and they turned it into a traditional party in the country. 

I have never been to this party but someday I will and I would highly recommend going to this party, especially for people who like to have fun and laugh a lot.
